First                                      Visit

We hope that your initial examination at our office will be a great one. You will spend approximately one hour with Dr. Torrey and his assistant. During that time, we would like to get to know you and your mouth. There are many different ways to achieve similar goals with dentistry and we would like to share those options with you. We will take a comprehensive and detailed look at your mouth with the appropriate x-rays for your condition. Cancer screens are a routine part of the visit. For more complex cases, we may take some photographs and study models of your teeth. In these cases, we will ask you to return in about two weeks for a consultation and more detailed treatment planning.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your appointment:

  • Completed health and dental history forms.
  • A list of medications(including doses and schedules) you are presently taking. (It is important to know if you have EVER taken bisphosphonates for cancer or osteoporosis).
  • The name of the guest who recommended our office so we may thank them.
  • We would like to know if you have had difficulty getting numb for dental work in the past or if you have any dental anxiety.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the initial examination visit and subsequent restorative dental appointments.Hygiene visits do not require guardians wait in the office.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require antibiotic medication prior to dental appointments.

X-Rays

If your previous dentist has taken recent x-rays (within 6-months), you may request that they forward them to our office. Please understand that if the images are not of acceptable diagnostic quality additional films may be required. Generally digital films can be emailed to our office on short notice.
