When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Torrey and his staff utilize the latest in technology to enhance the diagnostics and outcome of your dentistry.
Our practice uses high power magnification and illumination to enhance the delivery of precision dentistry.
Working upside down and backwards in a one inch mirror is challenging and patients deserve every advantage that can be gained
Many dentists use air-driven "hand-pieces" (the dental term for "drills"). While acceptable for many procedures, these "whiney sounding" air-powered hand pieces all have a degree of non-concentricity; they do not rotate perfectly smoothly.
For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration (crown, veneer, or filling). This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise.
Dr. Torrey chooses carefully which and when x-rays are obtained. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes, enabling us to detect cavities in between your teeth, analyze the health of your bone and evaluate the health and quality of previous dental work. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
Dr. Torrey utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, exposure time is approximately 50 percent less when compared to traditional x-rays. Digital imaging allows us to store patient images easily, rapidly compare previous films and transfer them to specialists or benefit companies when needed. Because digital films are viewed on a computer monitor it allows patients to see what we see more easily.
There are many types of dental lasers available in dentistry. We utilize an Odessey diode laser for many soft tissue related issues. The great feature of the diode laser is that it is incapable cutting hard tissue or teeth. That makes it a perfect selection for those delicate soft tissue procedures such as gum re-contouring or the removal of small lesions for biopsy.
Dental lasers have been shown to be safe and effective for treating both children and adults.
Many patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are comfortable with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing.
Dr. Torrey utilizes Imagecam intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intraoral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. Often small cracks can be diagnosed early and therefore more conservatively than allowing a crack to grow.
Intra oral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, or your benefits company.
